Sharon Rawlette, a memorist and essayist who has written for Salon, among other publications, found The Hand on the Mirror to be a unique story with a strong message for her.
Janis Heaphy Durham, author of The Hand on the Mirror, will join more than 40 distinguished California authors from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 12 at this year’s Authors on the Move event.
The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Sacramento, California, to benefit the Sacramento Public Library Foundation.
The 2016 event is called “Pathways: An American Tapestry” and features Lalita Tademy, author of Citizens Creek, as the keynote speaker. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, a four-course meal from Jason Poole, the renowned executive chef of the Hyatt Regency, unlimited wine, conversation with three regional authors at each table and a live auction to win one-time experiences with authors. This fund-raiser helps pay for literacy and tutoring programs as well as books and materials for the 28 public libraries in Sacramento.

In this introduction to an interview Janis conducted in Amsterdam with Kosmos Publishers, she shares her thoughts about how her spiritual journey has changed her view of what’s important in life.
Reader’s Digest has a global circulation of 10.5 million, so I’m very excited that they are running a serial of The Hand on the Mirror in the issue on the stands now. What a great way to reach even more people who can be emboldened to tell their own stories! It’s online now. Each international edition decides which stories to share from the U.S. edition, so we’ll let you know as it appears there.
After a whirlwind tour of Spain this week that included 11 interviews in Madrid and five in Barcelona, Janis is headed to Amsterdam. Here are links to two Spanish interviews, with TV3 in Barcelona, a 12-minute interview on primetime TV, and a video interview on Radio M80 with Juan Luis Cano. The interviews are in Spanish except for Janis, who is being translated.
M80. Ya veremos. Interview with Juan Luis Cano
Janis is making a splash in Spain this week of Sept. 13 to promote the Spanish version of The Hand on the Mirror. She’ll be doing interviews on radio, TV and for print in many of the major media there. She’ll be making a stop in Amsterdam, as well. Think good thoughts for her as she travels Europe! And if you know of anyone who is more comfortable reading a Spanish version of the book, you can find it here:
Spirit & Destiny Magazine, a magazine based in the United Kingdom that focuses on spiritual and lifestyle topics, featured Janis in its August issue with a great two-page spread.
